TAR UC was established in 1969 and known as Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR College). In 2013, the institution has been upgraded to University College from strength to strength offering highly qualified faculty and coupled with expertly designed programs such as Pre-University, Diploma, Bachelor Degree and Postgraduate programmes.

Most notably, TAR UC has been granted as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants’ (ACCA) Platinum Approved Learning Partner, which is accreditation of the highest level from ACCA to universities and colleges worldwide. TARUC also is the first and only IBM Centre of Excellence for Software Technology in Malaysia. Other than awarded Premier Digital Tech University by Ministry of Higher Education and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, TAR UC has many more scholastic as well as recognition prestigious awards. It obtained SETARA 5-star Ranting in its inaugural participation for Higher Education Institution in Malaysia in year 2018/2019.
