UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA (UiTM)

Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) is the Malaysia’s largest institution of higher learning in term of size and student population which have up-to approximately 190,000 bumiputra and international students, in both part-time and full-time modes. It offers world-class education at affordable cost.

Established in 1956, UiTM previously was known as RIDA (Rural & Industrial Development Authority) Training Centre that opened door to help the rural Malays community. Since its inception, it has been developed and expanded into the largest university in Malaysia with its physical infrastructure, staff organization as well as student enrolment.

UiTM is primarily based in Shah Alam, however it has expanded nationwide with 12 state campuses, 6 satellite campuses in Shah Alam, 11 state satellite campuses and 21 affiliated colleges. With this vast network and workforce of more than 17,000; UiTM offers over 500 academic programmes ranging from foundation to postgraduate level. In order to prepare students for career in professional practices and leadership in various fields, UiTM provides students a conducive and vibrant learning environment.

Internationally, UiTM is an acclaimed university known for its high-research programs. It has 24 faculties that grouped into three clusters which are Science & Technology, Business and Management, Social Sciences and Humanities. It is one of the six Malaysian universities that made it to the World’s Top 50 in the 2020 edition of QS World University Ranking by Subject, place at 31th with the subject of Hospitality & Leisure Management.

Today, UiTM alumni have gone on to hold important positions in government, business and the judiciary which include Minister Azalina Othman Said, Chief Judge Richard Malanjum and Air Asia co-founder Kamarudin Meranun.
