UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA (UTM)

Universiti Teknology Malaysia (UTM) is the Malaysia’s largest contributor of technical and professional workforce for the local industry, government agencies and multinational companies. It was established in 1904 as a Technical School and finally a full-fledge university in 1972. Over the years, UTM plays a pivotal role as an innovation-lead and research-intensive university in Engineering, Science and Technology.

UTM is a graduate-focused university and it is the highest in Malaysia which has 56% of its student population consisting of postgraduate students. It offers more innovative research-based postgraduate programmes and more attractive and varied modes of PhD programmes are implemented. For instances, Industry-based Doctoral Degrees, Double/Dual Doctoral Degrees, etc.

The main campus of UTM situated at Skudai, Johor which remarked as the second largest public university in Johor Bharu after Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Whereby the branch campus is located in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur, but only accommodating part-time, diploma, undergraduate and international students taking business courses.

Today, UTM has total over 25,000 student population in both full-time and part-time modes; and over 5,000 worldwide students from above 120 countries are offered education in this university yearly. It has maintained a rich alumni-based university graduates and they are now contributing to different areas of society.

Most notably, UTM is recognized as Malaysia’s Premier Institution in Engineering and Technology. It has recently made it to the World’s Top 200 Universities, moving up to 203th place as ranked in QS World University Rankings 2023. It is also ranked in the Top 100 League in the World University Rankings in the field of Engineering and Technology.
